This site is an offshoot of SQL Server optimization done for various clients and is provided as a public service to the SQL Server community. Kind of like MythBusters (tm), the various tests confirm or dispel SQL Server performance myths and provide real comparison numbers.

Here is a small sampling of past work that contributed to ideas for this site

• added an index that reduced a key query from 5 minutes to 2 seconds and the client avoided buying a new server
• created a loan pricing engine that returned the results of a complex algorithm in less than 0.2 seconds
• tuned a query to get a 1700% improvement
• created a document storage engine that searches hundreds of millions of records in less than 0.01 seconds
